Begin your exploration at the impressive Palamidi Fortress, one of Nafplio’s most important and recognizable landmarks. Built by the Venetians in the early 18th century, this imposing fortress rises high above the town and offers spectacular panoramic views over Nafplio and the Argolic Gulf. Explore its bastions, stone walls and historic passages while discovering a site closely connected to important moments in modern Greek history.
NAFPLIO OLD TOWN, SYNTAGMA SQUARE & FREE TIME | Approx. 2–2.5 Hours
Continue into the heart of Nafplio and discover the unique atmosphere of its beautifully preserved Old Town. Stroll through picturesque cobbled streets lined with neoclassical buildings, elegant balconies, charming shops and cafés. At historic Syntagma Square, you can discover important landmarks including the Archaeological Museum of Nafplio and the Vouleftiko. Enjoy a relaxing walk along Nafplio’s waterfront and admire the distinctive view of Bourtzi, the Venetian fortress located on a small islet just off the harbour. Bourtzi is one of Nafplio’s most recognizable landmarks and provides a beautiful setting for photographs and a leisurely walk by the sea.
AKRONAFPLIA & ARVANITIA | Approx. 30–45 Minutes
Discover another side of Nafplio with a visit to Akronafplia, the historic fortified peninsula rising above the Old Town. Continue towards Arvanitia and enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery and views across the Argolic Gulf.
